There use to be honor in war...understood rules. You don't wage war on women and children, you don't target schools and hospitals...those who cannot defend themselves. This war is without honor on Russia's side...but so much honor and spirit and commitment on the Ukranian side.

As for this song, its message is clear. I winced a little at the use of "rockets red glare, bombs bursting in air;", while i think i understand why you did...i cant help but think your song would be better served by your own original lyrics. After all you are so good at them!๐Ÿ˜‰ That said....its message is strong.

I feel your pain as a parent seeing these children suffer under the hands of adults who they will never meet or even know. Thanks for sharing!

There's a lot here, and a lot I might like to say but don't have the time to say.

1) I agree: War is terrible. Only an A hole from hell would disagree with that. However, quite frankly, until recently war was adored:

a) In the early 1960's, William Buckley said that nuclear apocalypse was a risk we should bear in the glorious and holy fight against Communism

b) In the War between Iraq and Iran (1980 to 88), Iranian children were told to wear white as they ran through mine fields to get blown up (After the children were blown up and the mines had been exploded, older soldiers, who were more valuable than pre teens, could proceed to engage the Iraqis) so the blood of their martyrdom could show up more brightly and beautifully

2) One poster on here said that war once had honor. That's a great big myth perpetuated by classrooms that indoctrinated nationalism, church's who encouraged people to be "Christian soldiers," and silly, stupid war movies meant for fat fucks who talk macho but ask their mommy to kill a mouse that makes them cry. Atrocities are integral to war. I had a teacher at Columbia University, one Roger Hilsman, who had been asst. Secy for State, for Far Eastern Affairs, under JFK. He told us all the things that were hidden by civics lessons and news programs and the New York Times and conservative journals as well:

Secretary Hillman said, in a Columbia classroom in 1980, that anyone in global politics has to be prepared to be a murderer. He told us, in that classroom, that in WW two he was stationed someplace in the Far East (I don't remember where) and he said he killed some villagers without knowing whether they were guilty of killing some Americans. He said he killed them because he had to kill some people publically so the people would be terrified of Americans and bow down to our will. He said his aim was to instill terror so the people would surrender their autonomy and independence. Terror has been practiced in all war. Terror has been accomplished by squashing a baby's eye balls against the wall. (The Japs did this in WW Two)

War is always utterly, abundantly filthy.

3) Images: Kids in bomb shelters is pretty bad. But it gets worse: Inmates in Auschwitz ate the flesh of dead people

4) As for Russian guilt: Yeah, its pretty terrible but they don't have anything on Uncle Sam: We dropped, on Indochina, twice the total bomb tonnage dropped by all combatants in all theatres of war in WW two. America poured napalm on huts. And America pioneered the use of anti personnel weapons, these were bombs that would explode and release hundreds of tiny knives that would go in all directions, pierce human flesh and not show up on x rays.

When people think they are as pure as the driven snow they believe they have license to be crueler than G-d who made small pox.
