I have a big confession to make: I am so loathsomely Neanderthal re technology that I don't think I have ever listened to a pod cast.
It seems as if every other day I encounter a new term visa vis technology, and I don't even know if the term is a proper noun or a noun or even a verb, let alone have any ideas as to what it is. Man, even the way techies use language seems strange to me.
However, you are a bright and perceptive guy so in deference to your good judgment I will listen to a podcast. I think I'll start with that Ira guy you mentioned.
I have listened to Youtube videos in which people just talk. I thought in pod casts people simply talk. So I wonder how pod casts are different from you tube videos.
First: 100% The way techies use language is bizarre and often self-indulgent. Been there, done that.
Regarding Ira Glass and this American Life. Ira is the producer. He is often not featured on any of the shows except at the beginning. But he is a masterful storyteller and created a genre of narrative journalism of every day people.
This is a famous Ira quote about the creative process.
Stuff You Missed in History Class is a great one and I highly recommend it! One of my favorite episodes is on the Occupation of Alcatraz.
