Marie - Official Song Release (and lyric video)
New Music and some upcoming performances
Woo hoo!!! My song, Marie, has been released to the major streaming services!
… or not!
I’m going to avoid commentary about why streaming services hurts musicians - for now! At a later time I may write on that topic. Today is not that day.
I noticed that Marie already appeared on YouTube music. I haven’t checked other services but typically the music will appear over a two or three day period from the day it is launched for release1.
I created a lyric video, included below. You should listen it. That’s not a command but, instead, a strongly worded suggestion that you would do well to heed.
“Fine Matt, I’ll listen!”
Thank you! I didn’t want to throw a tantrum. They’re ugly. I offer the following tantrum facsimile.
Actually, that is markedly cuter than my tantrums.
Anyway… let’s get to the music. And while you are there, you should subscribe to my YouTube channel. Same strong wording, same potential tantrum. Same level of cuteness. Got it!!
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
Marie - Lyric Video
Of special note: I like the photo I included in the lyric video. Deb took it in Pasadena, CA. We’ve used it for a few promotional items. However, I can count on zero fingers the number of times I squat with my guitar on a random city street. Photo shoots are strange.
Upcoming Performances

And that’s it… short and sweet.
Thank you again for joining me on this journey.

Note: I could have future dated my release for next week and that would have caused it to release simultaneously on all services. Why didn’t I do that? Simple: I’m working on getting new music out there and am not doing a coordinated launch campaign.
What a wonderful and professionally produced song. It could totally be on the radio.
Great photo by Deb, capturing the essence of the artist! Very professional sounding video - I enjoyed it. My schedule for July is a bit tight with various family members in town, but I'll check to see if we can make one of your performances. I'll let you know.
Be well,
J
