New Music
A long time ago in a galaxy I inhabit, I said I would be releasing new music. In fact, I said I would be releasing this very song MANY months ago.
But then, I wanted to add this, tweak that, remove this, accent that, adjust this, re-record that, test this, play with that…. get the picture?
I’m proud of this song but it’s time to move on. We’ve spent as much time together as is healthy and a little time that is not so healthy. And so, I took it to the edge of the nest and gave it the boot.
It will show up in all the streaming services over the next couple of days. But you, my fellow sojourners, get it first. Because we’ve got a thing going on, you and I. Shhh… don’t carry on, people will talk.
Below the lyric video, I have something I view as sort of fun and interesting. A couple videos from when I was first writing the song. It’s a journey.
The Coward and The Fool
I hope you enjoy! If so, share it with 1,000,000 of your closest friends.
Thanks.

Deb and I are in bed. I’ve been playing with Open G tuning. I had something I liked but not much - a stanza. Also, I wasn’t clear with Deb about wanting her to film my fretting hand (left hand), so I could remember the chord shapes.
She kept trying to get my face in the video. As beautiful as I am, my face was NOT what I wanted on video.
And like the dick I can be I say, “You’re being extraordinarily unhelpful”. Sheesh.

The next morning, in the office, I had a second stanzas. Definitely rough and the lyrics and the key the song is in ended up changing quite a bit.
June 26, 2022
I went back through my lyric notebook and discovered that I had the verses completed within a couple days of the above videos. However, I would not write the chorus until June 26th, 2022, more than a year later.
That happens sometimes. Apparently, the song had to simmer a bit.
That’s all for now.
Thank you for joining me on this journey.
With Love and Gratitude,
Matthew Moran
