When we last checked in on our intrepid hero, he released a song, Marie, and had a couple performances scheduled. One performance is in the books but another has been scheduled. That is to say, I still have two performances scheduled.

Tomato Joe’s a self-generated residency and a workshop for me. As indicated in my “losing the plot” post, it’s been a place for me to improve my performance chops. And, I can tell you, they have improved.
That isn’t my opinion… Well, it is my opinion but it is one bolstered by the response of those in attendance. In fact, when one attendee said, between songs, “Play more of your originals, they are as good as any other songs you play” - that is a pretty good test. Or, it means I’m playing bad cover songs… hmm.
I’m NOT where I plan to be but, this last week of rehearsals/practice has been amazing! I’m performing songs far more than playing song. I am fully in the moment, smooth and comfortable. It is an experience for me as much as anything else.
Next Saturday should be fun!
I got video of my last performance - both sets - and I recorded the audio directly from my PA. This gives me better audio than simply using the microphone on the cell phone. It picks up too much ambient noise.
However, I realized after that I had “clipped” in a few places. That’s when the signal is too loud for the microphone. There is no fixing that once it is on the recording. But the recordings are serviceable for now.
Next week I’ll have a new recorder that uses 32 bit float technology. That technology eradicates clipping. I’m not sure how but I’ve read enough reviews from people using it at LOUD concerts without any issue. Me and my guitar should be just fine.
To that end, I offer three videos below. I hope you enjoy!
And, as always, thank you for joining me on this journey.
With Love and Gratitude,
Matthew Moran

Do It Again
A song about the motivation for that next step in life…
Date a Millennial
A little bit silly but I sneak a redeeming message in at the end…
Escape
A song about an ill-fated trip to the islands… sort of a Jimmy Buffett mecca…
I thought we could make your next concert on the 20th, but Miki committed us to attend a friend's surprise birthday party :-(
